A performance with excerpts of Tjajkovskijs pieces from Swan Lake –  now with penguins instead of swans.

The love story of Prince Siegfrid and the Swanprincess Odette found in Tjajkovskijs Swan Lake is far from the reality in the green card marriage of Tjajkovskij and his wife Antonina. She was his student at the Moscow Conservatory, og she was hopelessly in love with him. Tjajkovskij on the other hand shared little to none of her infatuation, but at that time, living in Russia, he couldn’t openly say he was gay.

Central to the ballet Swan Lake was the graceful portrayal of the swan with its beautiful long limbs and its elegant neck. The penguin has neither long limbs or a neck. Antonina was emotionally as stunted as a penguin when she reached out to Tjajkovskij in vain. In THIS IS NOT SWAN LAKE four dancers portrays her longing and guarantees beautiful, touching and comical dance at its best.
